Jess Wainer is a Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Alumni working as a glass artist and lighting designer in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work is inspired by natural light phenomena, colors and forms found nature, and feminine beauty. Living and working in California, a place that celebrates authenticity and uniqueness has enabled Jess to bring her whole imaginative self to her work. Throughout her childhood and into adulthood, Jess’s father, a master woodworker, has designed and created beautiful furniture for her. The process of witnessing and receiving her father’s handcrafted works of art has exemplified how bringing heart and intention to design transforms it. Her experience with her dad’s gifts inspired her to build a business around thoughtfully creating works of glass art for peoples homes. Approaching the design, creation, and sales of her work with this mindset has allowed Jess to infuse client’s spaces with meaning, joy and connection.

Jess’ functional works have been featured best-sellers at the SFMOMA and Oakland Museum Shops as well as other select museum shops and galleries across the county. She’s created private commissions in homes across the US in cities including: New York City, Cleveland, Louisville, Atherton, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Chicago. Her works have been featured in Diablo Magazine, Punch Magazine, California Home and Design, Architectural Digest Russia, among others.

Whenever possible, Jess visits the desert and ocean to daydream, gaze at the sky, and experience the sensations and colors of dusk and dawn.
